Cultural Competency
Translation and Interpretation
The Hispanic Center provides document translations and interpretation services for individuals, multinational corporations, nonprofit organizations, schools and government entities. As West Michigan residents and organizations have become more diverse and global, the Hispanic Center's translation and interpretation services have grown beyond Spanish to include Vietnamese, Bosnian, Arabic, Albanian, Serbo-Croatian, Creole, French and others. Well-trained individuals can translate documents into English or vice versa, and the same high quality training and expertise can be expected when the Hispanic Center provides interpretation services in legal, medical, employer/employee and educational settings.

Cultural Events
The Hispanic Center provides cultural events that reflect the rich heritage of the community and promote understanding of that heritage in the broader community. The Hispanic Festival, Latin Extravaganza, and our Dia de los Muertos Celebration are the organization's premier annual celebrations. For more information regarding our community events, click on the Events section of this webpage.
Cultural Training
The Hispanic Center’s Cultural Training Program is one of our key programs designed to bridge communication between the Hispanic community and our broader community. These presentations to businesses, government agencies, nonprofits, and faith-based groups are intended to create awareness and understanding of Hispanic culture. Improved working knowledge of the Hispanic community in our region, as well as better understanding of distinct cultural practices and perspectives gives training participants an opportunity to improve their services to Hispanic clients and customers.
